Traveling and Tex-Mex February 24, 2012

Happy Friday, Pineapple fans! We’ve had another wild week at Pineapple HQ. Barlow and Jay did some Southwest flight-hopping, heading to Chicago and Portland in a 36 hour time span. I sure hope they got plenty of peanuts. We are excited about our potential new clients, and we’ll keep you posted as things develop.

Next week is another crazy one for us! We’ll kick of President’s Day on Monday with a production at Taste the World Photography. We’re going to shoot ELEVEN commercials in one day. That’s got to be a record, right?! It’s going be a busy day full of transforming high school seniors into ROCKSTARS with the campaign titled “Rockstar Row”. I’ve been busy tying up all the loose ends that always come with large-scale productions. It reminds me that I’m glad to be back!

Tuesday we are road tripping to Arkansas, and Wednesday will see us in Wichita, so be sure to check facebook and Twitter for updates from the road. We like meeting new clients and visiting with old ones, so it’ll be a great week, although a tiring one.

The week after that we’ll head south to Florida and Alabama (Floribama?), where we’ll get more Southwest peanuts. The Gilland Chevrolet “Trade Spot” campaign will be getting a comical makeover, so we’re going to spend a day shooting that. Should be a good time! And we’ll also get to visit with the fun folks at David Scott Fine Jewelry. February is shaping up to be another month of insane traveling, but we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Barlow’s favorite restaurant, Chuy’s, opened in Tulsa this week, and we were there on opening day, so he could share his love of their magical queso with us. He was right, it was fantastic. The Pineapples may just have a new go-to Mexican joint. Sorry, Compadres and Chimi’s….don’t hate. Now I’m jonesing for some chips and queso!

I’m going to stop there, because I’m getting tired just from reading about all this traveling. I’m also getting hungry! Have a wonderful weekend, Pineapple fans. Stay safe, and we’ll talk next week!

Wow. Just wow.

I don’t even know where to begin. The last two weeks have been legen….wait for it….DARY! In the history of Pineapple, nothing has ever happened like it has in the past several days. It seems appropriate that this, my 300th post, is when I get to say that our company is truly poised on the edge of greatness.

Pineapple is pleased to announce our newest Pineapple Pickers: Cogswell Motors of Russellville, Arkansas, Harte Family Motors of Hartford, Connecticut, and Nissan of Gresham in Gresham, Oregon. For me, this means that I get to put on my media buying pants and learn three new markets. For Barlow, it means coming up with a LOT of new creative (if you start thinking he’s fallen off the face of the earth, it’s because he’s in creative mode, so don’t get your feelings hurt), and for Jay, it means that his arm of the company, Digital Pineapple, is literally exploding!

Our production schedule for the next eight weeks is booked solid. Not only will we be traveling to shoot for these three new accounts, we’ll also be doing a new campaign for Car Country, Gilland Chevrolet in Alabama, and Davis-Moore Nissan in Wichita. We are ready to rack up some more Southwest miles! Judging by the schedule, we will be able to stop and catch our breaths in the middle of April. But times like these are when Pineapple thrives; we’d much rather be out doing terrific work for our clients than sitting around being bored (not that we do that often, if ever).

This week was a busy one all around. We began Monday with a production in downtown Tulsa at Taste the World Photography, and spent the day transforming 11 senior models into rockstars for the day. As always, the team was a blast to work with. The kids had a ball, and everything is looking fantastic! Be patient, because pretty soon we’ll have 11 web commercials to show you!

On Tuesday, we drove to Russellville, Arkansas, which is a nice town about an hour from Little Rock. We met with the owner of Cogswell Motors, Keith, and he took us out for a yummy Mexican lunch to celebrate Barlow’s 25th birthday. After that, we talked shop and took a tour of the dealership. We are excited to welcome them to the Pineapple family!

Wednesday was another day of road tripping. We headed north this time, to Davis-Moore Nissan in Wichita. The group planned the next layer of their television campaign and also concentrated a lot on Digital Pineapple. The only negative thing about the Wichita trip? The timing didn’t allow us to stop in Stillwater for some cheese fries like we usually do! We’ll fix that next time!

Next Monday we will be shooting locally, and then Wednesday Barlow and I will fly to Panama City, Florida, for more production. (I’m actually really excited to stay in a hotel for two nights and not have to worry about my baby boy, although I’ll miss him tremendously! But sometimes a girl’s got to get a night of worry-free sleep!)

We are so thankful that our company has achieved so much recently. I never thought I’d hear Barlow say, “We can’t accept any more new clients right now! The Pineapple line is closed!” It’s an amazing feeling, and I’m so blessed to be a part of this team.

Time for NADA! February 2, 2012

Well, Pineapple fans, it’s that time of year again…time for NADA in fabulous Las Vegas! If you’ll remember, last year the guys flew from Nashville to San Francisco for the convention, while our booth got stranded in a warehouse in Tulsa during the largest blizzard in the history of Oklahoma. Remember good old Snowpocalypse? It took some fancy footwork, but they did the best they could, which involved purchasing a TV in Cali to show our commercials on, and me chasing down a printer to make a sign that said, “Our booth got stuck in the snow. Please watch our commercials anyway.” That being said, we still ended up with some new clients that could see the awesomeness of the Pineapple even without our fancy booth.

This year, we went another route, going for a minimalistic booth consisting of a projector and some pop-up signs declaring why Your Commercials Suck. The best part is, all of it is able to be carried onto the plane, which means it should get there in one piece. But of course, nothing ever goes as planned. Barlow informed me this morning that Denver (where their layover is supposed to take place tomorrow) is under a blizzard advisory. More fancy footwork on my part: Barlow is now en route a day early, and Jay will fly out tomorrow and change planes in Houston instead. Let’s hope for no delays so that Barlow doesn’t have to set up the booth alone. (Although it shouldn’t be hard this year.)

Pretty awesome, and just in time for NADA. I hope that everyone on the convention floor takes a moment to check it out on their phones, and then tweets about it. Do it!
