Boats and bunny hugs June 30, 2010

We are halfway through the week, Pineapple fans! I love the last few days before a long weekend; you get to rush, rush, rush to get everything completed so that you can take off and enjoy a break with no worries and no responsibilities. I always work better under pressure, anyway, so this is great for me!

If you haven’t heard, the Pineapple has been officially picked in the Toronto area, thereby making us an INTERNATIONAL agency! I know we’ve been talking about Canada for awhile now, but it’s definitely a go. Adam, Charles, and I are gearing up to get everything together for a July 1 launch of the campaign for Phaeton Auto Group. It’s very stressful, very exciting, and very interesting! We are learning a lot about the Canadian culture, and while it’s a bit overwhelming, we love this kind of stuff. (Did you know that Canadians refer to “hoodies” as “bunny hugs”? Much cuter terminology, if you ask me.)

Barlow is on the road today and we haven’t played a single game of foosball. You’d think that then the boss is away, the kids will play, but we actually work even harder, in my opinion. Plus he’s not here distracting us by forcing us to play foosball with him. He will be back tomorrow, so I’m sure it’ll be “Game on!” then.

Have a wonderful Wednesday, all. Hope your plans for the Fourth of July are coming together nicely. (Now is the perfect time to make friends with someone that owns a boat.) We’ll see you tomorrow!

Pineapple Production Power…and studly soccer players June 29, 2010

Filed under: Uncategorized — pickthepineapple @ 2:43 pm

Good afternoon, Pineapple fans! It’s a busy, yet somewhat peaceful day here at Pineapple HQ. The boss was out of the office all morning working on a new production for Nelson Nissan. I stopped by to snap some photos and videos, of course, because I know all of my loyal readers are anxiously awaiting them! Dorsey, Kiera and Rodney on set

Barlow was in full director mode, as usual. He’s great at giving orders! But even the director and the man in charge of the camera need a break now and then…Jason and Barlow stretching it out

We’ve got lots more fun photos, as well as some videos (Robot, anyone?!) posted here and here, so be sure to check them out when you get a free minute. And remember, please continue to tell your friends to “Like” us on Facebook! We love meeting new fans, for sure.

Now I’ll probably get flamed for this, but I’m going ahead anyway. I’ll admit, I’m not actually a soccer fan. The World Cup doesn’t matter to me. Yes, it would have been great if Team USA would have done well, but it doesn’t make a difference in my life. But I saw the coverage on the news this morning about the England-Germany debacle. Germany scored two goals early in the game, and England scored one in answer. But when they scored a second goal, the refs didn’t count it, for some reason. Maybe they were scratching. Maybe they were looking for shooting stars. Who knows. The end result is the same; the refs goofed, and now the whole world is talking about it. (Even me, who doesn’t give two hoots about soccer. Except when David Beckham is on the field, which he’s not, because he’s injured.) That is a bad blow for England, but here’s what I don’t get. They still lost. They lost by three points. The goal wouldn’t have made a difference, in my opinion. Of course, they are saying that the missed call threw off their momentum and all that. But stuff happens. Sorry, England.

And just for good measure (and all of my female readers): Have a terrific Tuesday, Pineapple fans. I’ll see you tomorrow!

Friday and Fireworks…almost! June 28, 2010

Confucius said, “Choose a job you love, and you will never work a day in your life.” Do you think he was including Mondays? Not only am I dealing with Monday, I’m dealing with a Monday after being out of the office for a week. That’s about four times as bad! Doesn’t it seem that time goes quickly when you have too much to do, therefore leaving you feeling overwhelmed and stressed? But when you don’t have much to do, the time drags on…tick-tock.

I’d like to a give a big THANK YOU to Brock, who was kind enough to cover the Pineapple blog for me last week. He did a pretty good job, wouldn’t you say?

The Fourth of July is coming up this weekend, everyone’s favorite American holiday! It’s time to put on your flag tee shirts, grill up some burgers, and make a stop at your local fireworks stand. What better way to celebrate our country’s birthday? Hopefully you’ll be fortunate enough to head to the lake, because I have a feeling it’s going to be hot! If not, there are plenty of patriotic celebrations around Tulsa. The best fireworks display in town will be the FreedomFest at the River Parks. Get more info about Freedom Fest here. From my experience, it’s best to get there very early!

The Pineapples are taking a group outing to Grand Lake this weekend, so we’re really excited about that. It’s going to be a beautiful weekend full of good friends, fireworks, food and fun! Remember to be safe when setting off fireworks. If you want to be extra-careful, shop for fireworks like Kicking Wing and I do: “Snakes and sparklers are the only ones I like.” We’ve almost survived Monday, everyone! Hang in there…the rest of the week is going to be fantastic! See you tomorrow!

Is it Friday yet? Oh yeah – it is! June 25, 2010

Happy Friday, Pineapple fans!

Sorry we missed you all yesterday – if you can believe it, the entire office was overrun with aliens! However, to their disappointment, we don’t operate in the intergalactic advertising market…yet.

(An artist's rendering of the attack)

In all seriousness, we’re pumped for the weekend. It’s kinda nice to take a break every now and then, rest up, and come back in full Pineapple force on Monday!

In other news, our favorite former OSU Cowboy basketball player James Anderson was drafted 20th overall by the San Antonio Spurs in last night’s NBA Draft. Go James, and Go Pokes!

"I just owned you."

Well, from all of the three people still left in the office today (one of them, Adam, is pictured below, working hard to get everyone the Sweetest Spots and Juiciest Buys), so long and have a great weekend…we’ll see you on Monday!

Apparently he likes working in the Bat Cave.

U-S-A! U-S-A! June 23, 2010

Good afternoon, Pineapple fans! Brock (the new accounting dude) here – I thought I’d give our full-time blogger, Ashley,  a break for a couple days while she takes some much-needed time away from the office. Come back soon, ‘ya hear?

Travel safe!

Well, it’s been a hot day as usual here at the office…but we don’t mind – especially when the Team USA futbol (or is it soccer? or checkerball? or…whatever our colleagues overseas call it?) won its first World Cup match in eight years and finished atop its first-round group for the first time since the original World Cup in 1930, beating Algeria 1-0! All of this due to Landon Donovan’s goal just 45 seconds into the four minute injury extension time, after regulation ended in a zero-zero tie…boo-yah!

Donovan and Buddle

Goooooooooaaallllllll!!!!!!

While many of us were in important meetings and attending to other pressing matters while this was going on, I’m pretty sure Barlow Bear was watching in his office…which would explain the loud yell we heard after Team USA scored the goal. If he wasn’t watching…then who knows what he was doing? Ahem.

Sooners...

Almost as awkward as this family photo...

Anyways…thanks for reading, Pineapple fans! I look forward to getting acquainted with you all over the next few days.

AMERICA!

Modern Pineapples June 22, 2010

Good morning, Pineapple fans! As promised, Monday was a crazy day. Barlow headed up the shoot at the ranch in the morning, which went very well. The only problem? Everyone had really dirty shoes for the rest of the day. I shudder to think what their socks looked like….bleach, anyone? In the early afternoon, we headed over to the studio to shoot the “white screen” segments of the new BCBC Modern campaign. We had some awesome furniture brought over from the store, as well as our lovely talent, Olivia and Heidi. And not to mention the star of the show, Aiden! Shooting the commercial was a blast. The folks from BCBC Modern are fantastic. They’re fun, creative and just really nice people. One of my favorite parts of this production was watching the Pineapples (namely Adam) do some manual labor. But this was probably the best part of all…LOTS of men doing cleaning, while all the women got to watch!

All in all, this campaign is so going to be soooo fun. I’m serious. And I’m not just saying that because I work here! Check out the rest of the BCBC Modern production photos here. There should be more to come, so stay tuned.

Have a terrific Tuesday, Pineapple fans, and stay cool. Don’t forget to tell your friends to “Like” Pineapple Advertising on Facebook!

Just another Manic Monday June 21, 2010

Good morning, Pineapple fans! It’s going to be a HOT day at Pineapple! Not only is the low today a searing 95 degrees, we are diving into the busiest production day I’ve seen since I’ve been part of the Pineapple People.

We are kicking off the day with a location shoot on a ranch, filled with real live horses and cowboys. Pretty exciting stuff, right? I’ve lived in Oklahoma most of my life, and I still am quite unfamiliar with the whole rodeo/horses/wild west scene. I’m going to sit this one out, though, and do some work here at Pineapple HQ instead. Barlow is on his own…hope he can handle the heat!

After the ranch shoot, the crew is headed over to the studio to shoot footage for the new BCBC Modern campaign. This is going to be amazing, and I’m not just saying that. It’s creative, it’s catchy, it’s Pineapple at its best. We are creating two different layers of the campaign today (that means two different commercials) and the afternoon will be full of the first shoot.

Tonight, though, is when the fun really starts! We’re shooting a “dinner party” commercial on location at someone’s home, which will be really interesting. I get to be in charge of arranging food and beverages, as well as some other assorted props for the shoot. Sometimes it’s like Hollywood around here, I swear!

It’s going to be a very long day, and the Pineapple People are charging into it full steam ahead. I’ll have plenty of photographs and videos for you tomorrow. Stay tuned, Pineapple fans, and stay cool today….hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! (And Diet Dr. Pepper doesn’t count.)
